In search of an outstanding Varion Linear Service EngineerII/III to provide preventive and emergency maintenance services on one or more of the following manufactuerers: Varian, multi-leaf collimators, and analog and digital electronic equipment.
Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, will perform preventive and emergency maintenance services and repairs on all radiation therapy treatment and simulation equipment, therapeutic, diagnostic and electronic equipment five days a week, eight hours a day as scheduled or during other hours as needed. Incumbent is subject to overtime, call-back and weekend work, often times with little advance notice. Schedules and performs preventive maintenance, routine, and emergency repair of linear accelerators, simulators, CT scanners, and other electronic equipment at the facilities. Uses CAD software; maintains work order and inventory database; develops reports and spreadsheets. Installs new radiotherapy equipment, computer and network equipment, and performs software maintenance as need for service of radiotherapy equipment. Operates and maintains shop equipment and performs facility maintenance as needed. Assists Safety Officer; must understand JCAHO and OSHA guidelines, safety procedures, and other emergency procedures.
Must be professional at all times; must be able to work with minimal supervision; must maintain a positive work environment and overall team effort at all times.

1. KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION Knowledge and skills in microwave, pulsed RF, and vacuum systems as required for maintenance of linear accelerators.
Proven competency in performing preventive maintenance and advanced troubleshooting and repair of the clinical equipment.
Competency in the use of CMMS software and developing custom reports and queries for same.
Knowledge and skills in the development of MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Access databases.
Basic skills in the use of CAD software, as required for developing shop drawings.Competency and knowledge in computer repair, to include: component replacement, OS install, network configuration, and basic configuration and commands in MS operating systems from MS-DOS to Windows XP.
Knowledge of institution and departmental policies and procedures and quality control guidelines.
Knowledge of high-voltage and radiation safety procedures.
2. EXPERIENCE: - MUST HAVE: Five years experience component-level troubleshooting and repair of the following: Varian, Siemens, or Elekta high-energy linear accelerators, multi-leaf collimators, and analog and digital electronic equipment.
Two years experience and proven competency in the troubleshooting and repair of radiotherapy simulators, CT scanners, and digital imaging equipment.
Two years field service or three years in-house experience component-level troubleshooting and repair of high-energy linear accelerators, multi-leaf collimators, and one or more of the following: radiotherapy simulators, diagnostic X-ray equipment, CT scanners, and digital imaging equipment.
