Our client’s switchgear service centers offer complete testing, calibration, repair, reconditioning, remanufacturing and retrofitting services for all brands of switchgear. They work with power circuit breakers from 600 volt class through 34.5 kV. This includes low voltage metal frame breakers, low voltage switches, medium voltage switches, protective relays, and medium voltage air magnetic circuit breakers, vacuum circuit breakers and motor starter contactors. Work can be performed at a plant site, substation, or in their modern shop facilities with workspaces dedicated solely to circuit breaker and protective relay services. High current testing is performed on all low voltage power circuit breakers to test tripping curve accuracy.
Summary: Service low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear at customer locations, to include preventative maintenance, clean, test and repair. Refurbish/Recondition breakers in shop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean and inspect all mechanical and electrical attributes of switchgear/breakers. Perform inspection reports as required. Assemble and test low/medium voltage breakers. Final assemble unit for shipping, prep and paint. Review, repair/manufacturing instructions, diagrams, charts and repair order to determine work scope. Job requires 90% travel and working up to seven days a week. Other duties may be assigned.
Switchgear Technicians:
-Must have knowledge of breakers and other switchgear apparatus.
-Must have basic testing skills and understand testing equipment procedures.
-Must demonstrate troubleshooting skills using basic test equipment and electrical schematics.
-Must work with minimal supervision.
-Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time.
