Structural Design Specialist Oklahoma City, OK area (south of metro area) Job Description: Seeking a talented Structural Design Specialist for a challenging and rewarding position with a mechanical contractor in the southern Oklahoma City, OK area. The Structural Design Specialist is responsible for carrying out duties within the Engineering department including conceptual design, value added engineering, research, engineering documentation, drafting team quality control, estimating and process improvement. The ideal candidate will come with experience in structural design in making detailed technical drawings or plans for machinery, buildings, electronics, mechanical’s, infrastructure â?? etc. They have moved past the drafting phase and are now in a Design role. This specialist needs to have strong drafting skills but has moved into the Design and Value Engineering areas and is able to conceptualize processes and offer up suggestions and improvement. The ideal candidate will collaborate with our drafting, engineering, purchasing, production and fabrication teams on projects. They will have some oversight on drafting team projects and will need to able to answer questions, field requests, address drafting issues and perform quality control of drawings. The Structural Design Specialist needs to mechanically sound and be able to conceptualize processes and provide to engineering teams value added engineering ideas, process and design improvements on projects. They need to be able to conceptualize processes and offer up suggestions and improvement to layouts and help improve functionality of the project. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for creating design layouts and complete design detailed drawing sets for products This specialist needs to have strong drafting skills but has moved on to Design and Value Engineering and is able to conceptualize processes and offer up suggestions and improvement Help to interpret drawing sets used for fabrication, assembly and field installation of the products Will perform quality controls of drawings for errors of draftsman. Will be looked onto as a resource for draftsman for correcting errors, checking issues and fielding questions and requests Responsible for using AutoCAD and other design tools to convert designs of engineers into technical drawings and plans Will work closely with Operations, Engineering and Field Engineering Work with and be proficient in AutoCAD and have experience with other Design tools Assist with drawing interpretation during the fabrication phase and field construction application of the product Qualifications: Associates Degree preferred in Structural Design, Engineering, ME, MET â?? etc (preferred) or equivalent experience in structural design Certification(s) preferred in AutoCad / Industrial Design, Mechanical Drafting or related field 3+ year of experience in making detailed technical drawings or plans for mechanical design using AutoCad with a mechanical, fabrication, structural, machinery type application Structural Design Experience and in providing Value Engineering advice to improve concepts, designs and functionality of projects Ability to conceptualize processes and offer up suggestions on ways to improve upon processes, layouts and functionality and be able to think their way through situations Experience with working from drawings to design layout requirements for fabrication and be able to create shop and fabrication drawings for field construction projects Experience with the quality control of drawings and the ability to pinpoint and resolve errors Basic engineering theory and application knowledge is a plus as the Structural Design Specialist will work with the engineering teams, fabrication and field construction personnel Abilities to have oversight to draftsman work and to be able to answer questions, check issues, monitor progress and help manage department work load (some previous supervisory experience helpful) Be mechanically inclined and hands on, figure it out type of personality Must be responsible and good work history with the ability to work efficiently and thrive in a fast paced environment Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively Inquisitive, eager with the desire to advance and progress within the organization Please submit your resume for this Structural Design Specialist position.
